GLASS CARE
Hanging
- Avoid suction cups when hanging your piece in a window as these tend to fall off over time.
- If you would like to display your piece in the window I suggest
securing your piece with either a hook or nail in the window frame or attach your glass securely to the window latch if possible.
Cleaning
- Use a clean microfiber cloth to clean away any fingerprints or dust. Q-tips work well for hard to reach areas.
- Do NOT use Windex or any cleaning products with ammonia, this can eventually cause the solder to break down.
- You can also use a car polish to clean and wax both the solder lines and glass. Wax on, Wax off.
- Stained glass is traditionally made with lead, and although the
amount used comes with minimal risk I still recommend washing your hands after handling.
Patina
- Each piece is typically coated with a black patina that turned the solder lines from silver to black. Over time the patina may darken.
- The solder joints can naturally oxidize and form a white residue, if this happens just wipe away with a soft cloth.
